Lifejacket Workshop with Kate Cope

Join Kate Cope, RBYC member and experienced offshore racer, as she shares her expertise on lifejackets in an informative and practical session.

Learn about the basic elements of a lifejacket, how to confidently service your lifejacket and the optional extras you might want to enhance your safety. There will be lifejackets and parts on hand for you to examine and a live demonstration featuring the inflation of a lifejacket. If you have your own lifejacket please bring it along to the event.

This is a hands-on workshop, so we encourage everyone interested in learning more about lifejackets to join us at The Binfield Club for this event.

Feel the need to brush up the skills you learnt on past RYA programmes but never get to try? Plan to progress beyond day skipper and would like to get a feel for the experience? Would like to become a RBYC skipper? Or simply fancy practicing and learning skills? - this weekend is for you.

The weekend will be full of the drills familiar to yacht master coastal and offshore practical assessments - mooring, picking up under sail, navigation without plotter, night nav, buoyage, etc. Every crew member has an opportunity to have a go providing a great opportunity to learn in a friendly atmosphere, while, for those with a more competitive bent, there will be also be prizes and shout outs at the end of the weekend.

The Sea Scamp Story

Robert Stevenson, the Commodore, and Roberta Bonometti, the Vice Commodore of the Sea Scamp Syndicate, will be joining us to deliver a presentation on the classic yacht Sea Scamp.

We will learn about the captivating history of Sea Scamp, tracing her journey from her original construction through to her present‑day status as a much‑loved classic yacht. There will be insights into the unique experience of sailing Sea Scamp, highlighting what makes her so distinctive and rewarding to sail. In addition, we will find out about opportunities available for sailing this remarkable vessel.

This talk is free.

The annual close of the year - the hotly contested annual buoy hunt. Something between orienteering by boat, chess and a game show, sail to as many buoys as you can in the time set aside to score points - with prize giving over dinner and the opportunity to be the winning boat. Last year we had four boats out - lets see if we can make it five this year!
